Welcome to the AEW web site!

Beginning in 2007, the Alternative Energy Workforce Development Program is a student research and development internship at Fort Peck Community College, located in Poplar, Montana with a sattelite campus in neighboring Wolf Point. Both cities are on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in northeast Montana, which is home to the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, student-interns are currently doing feasability research for the Tribes and the for the college, with the focus aimed at the development of the alternative energy resources that are available on our tribal lands.

By way of a stipend, the internship is helping the student-workers financially in achieving their educational goals, and - through research, work and travel within the energy field - it will help to build a strong and extremely valuable knowledge base within our communities, of the rapidly expanding renewable energy fields in Montana, in the U.S. and globally. It is creating a technical expertise, if you will, among our people.
